I'm not so sure they are biting the hand that feeds them actually. Well I only say that cause they announced this service at Comcast convention or something similar to that. So I think they've already discussed this with them. I could be wrong though and they announced it at this convention to be Dbags and hopefully get other channels involved effectively removing all the pressure off them.

Seems to me like the cable olverlords weren't happy with this and HBO have rolled over and took it. i.e they have made it so that most people will still stick with cable if hbo was the only reason to do so. Or at least, now most people won't be encouraged to ditch cable, because they already have a box that plays hbo. And yes, the general consumer is that odd.
