I don't mind it being a big thing if the games done with open worlds are done well. We'll still have a lot of other games that aren't open world. Plus, this competition will force some of these linear games to do some interesting experimenting as well, perhaps with branching level design that can lead to unique story progression to provide more replay value and more open level design within campaign sections, perhaps even trying to tie all the levels together physically into one flowing playable area you move through in the story. Just throwing stuff out there, but the short of it is that FPS games having competition should only help things.
