I'm assuming as you progress new shops open up and those new shops are owned by native species to the planet and thus they sell you armor that they wear or it looks similar to them in a fashion, or somehow related to their customs, ect.
Pretty sure its not just some humans going "ooh lets make some crazy ass mantise style armor"
