I can see three main reasons that would, imo, drive to this scenario: 1º - Japanese appeal: Dragon quest sells mainly in japan and Xone is selling really bad over there with not much run for improvement. That would be one reason to not release the game on that machine. 2º - Demographic: Outside japan, people who play japanese games tend to buy Playstation over xbox and that reflect in huge sales discrepancies(see Type-0 at amazon). This is nothing new,we saw that happening last gen.Basically,if you like japanese games, chances are you have/will have a playstation. 3º - Power: Assuming that SE is targeting next gen graphics with DQ11,release on WiiU may not be possible. |
re 1&2. Given we're in Japan in this thread I was basically pretending Xb one diesn;t exist, so when I say multiplatform I mean Just PS4 and Wii U.
Yes, I agree that power is a potential issue. If SE wants a visually stunning presentation then Wii U just won't stack up to PS4. But if SE is happy to do middle of the road graphics then Wii U will be able to hold its end up. So it does very much depend on their ambitions for the game.
If SE is going a bit cold on Nintendo then sure they have little incentive to throw Wii U a bone with DQ.
