fair enough.

But not really. NSMBWiiU still sold a LOT of copies for a system that isnt selling to the casual. Same with the 3ds one to a lesser extent. So no the popularity isnt the same. As it seems 3d Mario could cap at 8 mil? where the 2d ones go higher. Unti i see the 3d one outsell a 2d one im sticking to my point

They are about the same this generation.

3D Land-10.07m, 3D World-3.02m, Total-13.09m

NSMB2-8.58m, NSMBU-4.67, Total-13.25m

i just came to fix my number 3d at 12 mil cap about.

But that doesnt really tell us much. the 3d one on 3ds did more and the 2d one on Wii U did more, but in each of those cases it was because one released a whole year earlier than the other.

Now if you say the 2d one has more casual appeal and thats why it put up those large numbers does that really discount my point in 2d being more popular? Not that that means much anymore judging by recent numbers i dont think we are going to get a 2d Mario that comes close to those numbers anymore. We would have to have a 2d and 3d Mario release around the same tiem for the same system to truly know for sure. Hell maybe one isnt more popular than the other.
