Well, they are surely the two most notable things happening in gaming on a macroscopic scale, but I guess in this particular case the OP was referring to the contrast between reality and perception about PC gaming, that, although also at cost of huge changes through the years, is bigger than ever and, even not as strongly as in its golden age, still growing, despite having been given up for dead endless times.
Just like when I was doing the military service, that I was coming back alive from the shooting range wasn't a particularly interesting news, but it became after some joker spread the rumour I killed myself and the lieutenant failing to throw a hand grenade and dropping it on my feet.
