Wow. The XBO actually went back above 1000 units. Special edition consoles and bundles do help in Japan. Probably won't last, though, because such boosts never do. I wonder how long it'll take before it drops below 200 again.

The PS4 is doing pretty good considering the state of the Japanese market. The week ending the 1st should be even better as they're getting a Dragon Quest-themed Musou game and a special edition Metal Slime console. Japan loves DQ, Musou games, and special edition consoles, so we could easily see PS4 capture the top spot. The PS4 should really hit its stride once the first price cut comes in and the big Japanese titles like MSGV and FFXV come out.

The 3DS is still holding on nicely. It's barely down YoY. Now to see if there's any major software releases that could help boost it.

The Wii U is definitely past its peak in Japan. The Wii also peaked earlier in Japan than it did in the U.S. & Europe, so maybe we should have expected this.

But isn't barely down actually not very good, since it got a hardware refresh late last year? You would expect at least 1 full year of YoY increase with a major hardware refresh, even if only modest the increase should be there. There should be a sizeable market of people who haven't yet bought a 3DS, and quite a few current 3DS owners who upgrade to the new model.

Not necessarily, DS was down slightly YoY for the DSi first full year.
