It's a shooter that looks too young for the taste of many, myself included. However, given Nintendo aficionados love for all things colorful, the game seems  right up their alley. It's niche but I think it will find good success.

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms.   When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." -C.S. Lewis

Your quote doesn't really fit what he said. There's a big difference between seeing 'adult' as a term of approval, and simply believing something is too childish for your tastes. The reverse (believing a game is too violent etc) is also fine. You wouldn't criticize a 40 year old for saying they've outgrown Dora the Explorer, nor for being uncomfortable with shooting someone in a game.

On the contrary, I think it fits perfectly as the objection is exactly the age perception of the game. Again the here the objection has nothing to do with game mechanics, it's the "kiddie" colorful perception of the game image that is to blame. Again I quote: "to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence". Wanting to seem grown-up & only playing games that don't "look too young" is quite the opposite of being a real adult.
