I was just wondering, because Insomniac develops the games. But if it counts:

Sony: 3D platformers , action-adventure (Uncharted), racing sim, hack and slash

Nintendo: 2D platformers, whatever genre Zelda is in, RPGs (Xenoblade, Fire Emblem)

MS: FPS, TPS (Gears)

one question, is this about which genres do we think the big three's games are the best in the industry, or best of the big three?

SM64, SMS, SMG 1 & 2, SM3DL and SM3DW like to have a word with you. ;)

Crash 1-3, Sly Cooper 1-4, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank 1-3+ToD+ACiT+ItN and Tearaway would like a word with you.
