Both points are right.  The lack of competition obviously gives gamers little quality alternatives and the other point is that nintendo have a hardcore that's been gaming with them for generations and their loyalty to nintendo made games is strong 

When combining retail, eShop and Virtual Console titles, 3DS has over 1000 games. U can't say it has a lack of competition from 3rd parties.
