Because nintendo are trying to maximise profits and they know the lack of 3rd party means that their fanbase are likely to buy their games.  

Yet you could buy MPT for €10 on the eshop not so long ago. ;)

The second hand market for Nintendo games is smaller than third party games, so the prices remain higher. Nintendo games have more lasting value.
