No it doesn't but a lot of consumers like me want the blockbuster experience. Indies/small 3rd parties fill the void for the cheaper titles. It's a pretty good combo.

How many blockbuster experiences is Sony making this year? Don't come of with third parties (since we're comparing the design philosophy of two companies)
Nintendo has XBX (open world of 400 km²) and Zelda U (another open world game).
