Chrono cross is nice. Hopefully you've played Chrono trigger as well.
Welcome to Vgchartz!

I have beaten Chrono Trigger.  Definitely one of the best games I have ever played.  I finished it late last year.  I loved doing the sidequests at the end of the game and seeing there effects reverberate throughout history.  I'm looking forward to seeing how Chrono Cross connects to it... even though I hear that part isn't the best part of the game...

Yeah, Chrono Trigger is the reason I love time traveling themes in games, even though most other games with time traveling has disappointed me. But I'm always hopeful about their potential. It was nice doing things in the past that affected the future, like with the Rainbow Sword.
As for CC tie ins with CT, and that part "not being the best", there's more than one of them, and while they're mostly vague, I can't say I saw them as something negative, so I'm not sure which part that would be refering to. But hopefully you've seen the Playstation ending of Chrono Trigger, as it shows an extra animated ending sequence that wasnt in the SNES game (not sure if its also in the DS version) and it shows some connections to Chrono Cross.

Chrono Trigger is also one of the best games I've ever played. As for the best game I've ever played, that title belongs to Suikoden 2. Since it's now available on PS3 and PSP through the PSN store, and you're into retro gaming, I strongly recommend checking it out if you haven't played it.

Some of the interesting things about it is the 108 recriutable characters that each add something to your headquarters/castle with new rooms and floors in the form of shops, a farm, a restaurant with cook off duels.
The war strategy system where characters can die permanently. (Similar to Fire Emblem, except here they actually die in the story as well.)
And that it's not about saving the world, but focused on countries and the politics surrounding war.
The story is of course nothing short of amazing, or it wouldn't be my #1 game. Luca Blight is quite a memorable villain.

It certianly looks intruiging... although its looks quite pricy to find/play... it sorta looks like a combination of chrono cross and fire emblem...  If it goes on sale on PSN Ill certianly look into it.  how long does it take to play?
