I think we have some points where VGC isn't useful anymore:
- Software sales: it is irrelevant for platforms that rely heavily on digital distribution (Vita) and for digital-only games. For PS4 and X1, digital is around 10 to 20% and with the bigger error margin VGC has for software and the fact that we won't get a lot of reports from publishers separating both numbers we have a massive error here.
And where it is relevant:
- Hardware tracking: it provides a quick view that sums up the results of Media Create and NPD with the eventual reports from Sony/MS/Nintendo and adds educated guesses for EU. It's better than keeping up with the numbers by yourself.
