If Xbox and Nintendo consoles magically landed in my lap, I would try Gears of War and Metroid, repectively. I don't care for Zelda (After i found out A link to the Past and all zelda games weren't RPGs) and I'm not big on Racing games (fan of battle-style like Mario Kart or MotorStorm)

I've only played Ocarina of Time but I disagree with anyone claiming they aren't RPGs. Felt very much like an RPG to me.

I mean, in a sense, they are RPGs. However (as I suspect you already figured out) I mean RPG in a more traditional way. Kill enemies, level up, gain new powers, maybe some party members and so on. I have nothing bad to say about the Zelda series, aside from it's confusing storyline, it was just the kind of bad initial impression that put me off. That and I don't own many Nintendo consoles to play Zelda games on.
