Some say it's because reviewers were too generous last gen and are overcompensanting this gen, others think it's because they're too old/on this job for far too long, and are burnt out. Whatever the case, it's undeniable that review scores are faaaaar lower, and critics are MUCH harsher with games.

So here's the question, will we ever see another game with insanely high scores? I mean, Mario 3D World was 93, which is excellent of course. But then you have Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2, GTA 5, all of which were 97. Uncharted 2 is 96, The Last of Us is 95... Will we ever see something like that again? I mean, it feels like games like Second Son or Sunset Overdrive or Shadow of Mordor would have scored higher had they been released earlier, but none of them reached a 90 metascore. I even doubt the scores for estabilished franchises and developers at this point (despite Mario 3D World) - can the next God of War or Uncharted 4, or even Zelda U reach the heights of their predecessors?

Here's a disclaimer for ya: I'm not saying reviews are that important, it's just an interesting question I thought here.

Edit: sorry for the poll there... wasn't aware it was gonna cut words like that, and I can't edit it =P
