If they plan to do Animal Crossing really well wouldn't that take awhile to make though? I mean you don't usually get a big game revealed with no teaser or rumours prior and have game released within a few months. We knew about 3D World, DKCTF was delayed, Captain Toad was a small game and didn't release in EU/AU until the New Year...

They've hinted at Animal Crossing:

Animal Crossing is not as a strong game as a Smash, MK8, or Legend of Zelda. If you ask me, it's a little bit of a let down compared to those franchises :-/. Although it debuted on the GC... It's console releases are rather weak compared to it's handheld reiterations:

1 Animal Crossing: Wild World DS 2005 Simulation Nintendo 2.48 3.41 5.33 0.87 12.08
2 Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS 2012 Action Nintendo 1.58 1.69 4.02 0.34 7.63
3 Animal Crossing: City Folk Wii 2008 Simulation Nintendo 1.81 1.11 1.32 0.36 4.60
4 Animal Crossing GC 2001 Simulation Nintendo 1.92 0.16 0.99 0.09 3.15

That's almost 20 million combined for Handhelds compared to 7-8 million on consoles. Even on the Wii it failed to make 5 million.  Releasing AC as a top gun for the holidays is just setting the Wii U for even more failure. BUT it as a SECONDARY selling game with Zelda U being the main attraction might be enough for a better Xmas than last years.

Here's hoping every Ninty fans gut feeling of Zelda being delayed is dead wrong... :P
