There is only one single example of it doing well. I'd argue it's more of the exception to the rule rather than evidence that JRPGs sell well on Steam. Great success is greatly exagerrated.

Ahh no??.

The has been a number of JRPG Re-Releases thats made it into the steam best sellers list (FF3/FF4/FF13/FF13-2/Agiest Series/YS, etc etc). Not suprising when your selling to a user base of 80+ million users who have been starved for JRPG's on PC, even if only less then 5% of that user base showed interest in your game thats still very big numbers. If old re-releases of games can sell so great i can only imagine what the Big Name JRPG's would do on steam if they get released at the same time or within a few weeks/months of the'r console release.

If JRPG games wasnt selling well, then why compared to before are so many of them getting released on steam lately??.

Because the games that are releasing have such low costs associated with them, that it's ok to sell a few thousand copies. It's been fantastic for series like Ys and Agarest, because budgets were so low, it would have been hard for them to not turn a profit on a platform like Steam.

FF13 didn't touch the top sellers list though. :-/
