nope a man has reasonable expectations like most.  Your perception of "hype" is apparently people defending it from people who wanted to hate every little detail and the sub-genre it was a part of.  If there are more negative articles than the game is not hyped.  I do agree Zelda U, Uncharted 4, and Halo 5 will be hyped.  This was a new IP that was greeted with everything from reasonable excitement (usually with some skepticism) to unreasonable hate.  Not overhyped sorry.

Well for starters, even thousand post threads on GAF full of people bickering is still hype. Some people apparently dont know what hype is. Positive or negative is irrelevant. Also, you have to have two sides of the coin. You can blame all the supporters responding as "defense against haters", i could just as easily say the people criticizing the game were responding because of the "blind defenders".

Either way there has been tons of hype. Idk why it bothers you that people bring it up. It wont change the metascore or anything. How many Sony games do you see posters for at Walmart? Hung by Sony reps themselves? So much discussion that the developers feel inclined to comment multiple times just in the week before release? And lets not act as if The Order hasnt been high on preorder charts for awhile and hasnt been generating loads of positive talk from PS fans all across the Internet. The hype might have turned negative in the last week (rightfully so) but the hype was always there.

Ummm lol ok you're clearly confusing hype with publicity.  You could say that if the initial articles that most of these threads were based off of weren't negative to start out with.  To put it in simple terms, the haters were starting it for the most part.  Clearly there were blind defenders but from what I saw they were very few in number comparatively and didn't go out of their way to make as many articles praising the game as haters did smearing it.  If that wasn't what you saw fine but don't try to make everything that is said about the game into hype.  Otherwise the term "overhype" has no meaning.  You're just using it in place of publicity or general advertisement.  Fans can't help that there's TV commercials for it and the fact that there were so many arguments about it shows a skepticism which flies in the face of hype.  It would be one thing if I saw a bunch of people saying "ZOMG The Order is gonna be the defining game of the gen!" but there weren't nearly as many of those (I'm sure they existed in very very small numbers which doesn't factor into this argument) as "this is a travesty to gaming" or just generally nitpicking at every turn.  To be fair I saw the same thing happen with Ryse.  It wasn't very hyped and when it came out people still put words in the Xbox community's mouth saying that it was hyped.  Most knew Crytek was there for graphics.  Same situation here.
