The 8th gen consoles could have waited until 2018 to release, the PS360 are capable enough to last a long time. The only console that needed a successor was the Wii, and even that system could have lasted a couple more years if Nintendo didn't have abandoned it so soon.

I agree with you about Nintendo abandoning Wii too soon, but you're crazy if you think Sony/MS should have waited until 2018 to release new consoles.

Well, I suppose that's a long time, but I'm sure the PS360 will still get full retail releases in 2018. And from a power perspective, most next-gen games have versions on PS360, and there are very few differences between them. From a sales perspective, the majority of best-selling games on PS4-XBone are in last gen consoles too (Far Cry 4, CoD AW, Destiny, GTAV, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, The Last of Us, Shadows of Mordor...), so much so than other regular selling games from last gen are being remastered too (DMC DMC, Tomb Raider, Saints Row IV...). From that point of view, yes, we could have waited more time so the power difference between systems makes the old ones unable to run the new titles.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
