On the topic of games, major channels like Steam censor nudity when it's the primary point (i.e. Visual Novels) so, if you get them from there, you need to check if there's a mod for the uncensored version or instead buy it from the distributor themselves like Mangagamer and JAST USA I do wonder about mangas though as those should be fine. Last I heard, Monster Musume is really doing well in the US but I haven't checked it out yet |
I've bought some anime before that had a lot of the scenes edited out instead of being just censored. That's what I meant. There was one film that had about 20 mins edited out that was in the japanese version. The japanese version would be the equilavant of NC-17 or even x rated but was edited to the point of just being rated R. I forgot the name of it, otherwise I would of sourced it. Alot of anime is heavily edited and the dubbing/translation is changed. Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Dragon ball and Naruto are all examples of there being a lot edited done between the version shown on japapese tv versus what's on dvd, streamed, and aired in the states. Even entire episodes are edited out in some of those. Conversations changed just so that the dubbing works better. I'm not complaining about censonship but I want the full versions when I buy it and not the dumbed down for americans versions.
It's one of the reasons why I want to evenutally learn japanese and just buy stuff straight from japan with no editing or translating. Any of the stuff that gets streamed here using crunchyroll is unedited I would imagine but I don't trust the translations.
