It is a promotional tool for Virtual Console games. You get to play one or two levels of an NES or SNES game, and if you like it, Nintendo hopes that you'll buy the full game from the eShop.

Mhmm interesting. I do hope they will eventually make a full game for amiibos though rather than stuff like this
