yeah, not sure about v2 but normal lga2011 is ddr3, the i7 3970x i have in mine is lga2011, and the board is lga2011 (rampage iv extreme), the difference between lga2011 and lga2011v3 and the ddr4 requirement for the newer 5xxx series intel cpus is throwing a lot of people into ops position with regards to accidentally buying incompatible parts. Ive a friend in the same situation but thankfully the only part of hers that is ddr4 dependant is the cpu, so shes just switching that out for a 3xxx or 4xxx series for op it looks like he can just return the unopened ram and get a refund, which is fortunate. |
