As I said in this thread:
"Every PS2 sold continues to be a 'win' for Sony. It generally delays that user from upgrading to any of the newer systems. And the longer that transition takes, the more likely that user will buy a Playstation product in the future. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)"
The PS2 is a great, inexpensive console that Sony makes money on. I bet a sizable portion of sales are replacement units (probably about 10-25%) and for younger gamers (about another 25%). I know I wouldn't buy a 7 year old a PS3. :P
Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
