I do think it would be different. There is a certain contingent within in the gaming community that just seems to despise anything Nintendo does. Sony by in large gets a free pass. Both the PS1 and PS2 had reliability issues and Sony denies any PS1 issues to this day. They had to be sued to recognize issues with the PS2. Yet despite this they go relatively unscathed. Throughout the past 12 plus years, Sony has made a habit of deriding the new ideas of their competitors only to co-opt that idea at a latter date. So in Sony's case I think it would be different. I think MS by in large would catch similar but a not as pronounced resistance to motion controls.
