They don't need protection they can stand up for themselves. 

Clearly you haven't been around people with Down Syndrome otherwise you wouldn't say that.. They have on average the mental age of an 8 year old.. Sure some can live on their own but most live under supervision.. My cousin has it worse and is around the mental age of a 4 year old.. His movement skills are unstable, can't speak words, and i have to wipe his drool of his face.. If he has a mood swing i can barely control him.. He's taller then me and doesn't hold back his strenght and thats scary when you know he can overpower you easily. I love him so i would punch anyone calling him a retard. they are awesome people.. Not "retards"
