You do realize that this entire thread and what I was referring to on my original comment was mostly about launch right...? Because them goofing up during launch is what sealed the fate of the wiiU

The wiiU did cost $350 during launch

The wiiU is a low powered console if you look at the specs... Heck, it can't even power a single external hard drive through one USB port... That is the meaning of low power... Even Iwata said that, that is exactly what they were going for

See the issue is, even if its not supposed to be used outside of the house, it can't even be used around the house... Cause in most cases, you can't even get it out of your room without it losing signal

And it did increase the price by a large margin. A replacement gamepad costs $150

http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-selling-replacement-wii-u-gamepads-for-150-247205.phtml

Games are supposed to be installed because the Bluray discs can't read the textures and the data as fast as hard drives can... Thats why games get installed because hard drives are much faster than Bluray drivers hence why when a game gets installed to the hard drive, the console can access the data significantly faster than it can off of the Bluray drive which is essentially required these days

It was a) A laggy stream and B) A normal Direct with nothing special (apart from the games) where many would have rathered seen them do a press conference at e3 cause there was nothing unique about it (unlike e3 2014) and it gave a sub-par experience due to the laggy stream where as if they did a regular press conference, that laggy stream wouldn't have occured.

The triggers weren't a minor issue in 2012/2013 and it still isn't since both the ps3 and the 360 had way better triggers and so does the ps4/x1... It is a fail because a brand new next gen console missed some of the basic things that even last gen consoles had

And again, the title said "what should Nintendo have done to follow up the Wii's success?" which is mostly referring to the launch of the wiiU and how the wiiU failed to live to the wii's success. And while the day 1 update is now a minor thing, it was still quite a big thing during launch which (along with everything else) essentially sealed the fate of the wiiU.

Please do some research before you respond

Wii U was $299 at launch. one bundle being $349 doesn't change the lower entry price.

I thought you meant low power hardware wise. yes, wii u has low power consumption but I see it as beneficial.

Wii U doesn't use blu ray discs per se, and it's a known fact it's read speed is quite faster than ps3's bluray.

Won't repeat myself on the rest.

No one in their right mind would buy the basic edition cause 8gb of space is legit nothing to work with, specially when its competitors were offering 250-500GBs of space... Hence why it was shortly phased out. Almost no one even considered the basic model to even be worth the purchase hence it being phased out

And most people don't see it as a benefit hence the terrible sales

And yes, it does read faster than the ps3's Bluray but that still doesn't matter cause its no where near the speeds of what a hard drive is capable of doing

But at the end of the day, whether you believe it or not, most of what I said on my original comment was true and not only did I give proof which you failed to do, but its also proven by the market... Nintendo has great games, there is no denying that but as a console launch and as a successor to the wii, the wiiU was a failure due to all the mistakes I have said
