Continuity is where Nintendo dropped the ball, hence the huge difference between these two generations. Based on the sales of Wii software, you can figure which games should have had utmost priority and required AAA treatment, but Mario Kart is the only IP where Nintendo bothered and that came long after they hammered it into the heads of Wii consumers that they are second rate consumers at best. Additionally, if Nintendo had honored the Wii, then the Gamepad could have never become the standard controller. |
