You should get a quote from a shop that does trade ins.
Shops obviously offer less than its worth, so they can sell it at a profit.
Sell it to your friend for the amount you are quoted. It means you arn't losing any money, and friend is getting it cheaper than it would cost in the shops. (cut out the middle man)
