It really depends. If you already have a 3Dtv/monitor/projector I think you can get a free trial for 3DTV play (Needs modern Nvidia card) or Tridef which works with all cards. I think they are about $30 or $40 to buy. There are other things, but 3DTVplay or Tridef are the main pieces of software.
Certain 3D monitors need 3DVision instead because they do not have an in-built emitter but I use 40inch samsung TV (will be switching to an Acre projector soon) and prefer 3DTV play out of the 2 main ones. For 3DTV's you can normally just use the regular 3D glasses you would for normal 3D viewing that come with it.
I think if you truly do not have any 3D equipment, Tridef may have a blue/red Green/red mode to work with those really old 3D glasses that see pictures in 2 main colours.
