They took out fatalities (I guess superman is just too good of a guy to rip some one's spleen out).
But really, on what level is this not a bad idea? Mortal Kombat minus blood or gore plus comic book heroes that would easily dominate every mortal kombat character. Why not take out the violence all together and add some Dragon Ball Z characters to the mix too? Goku and Subzero can debate the ethics of abortion with Dark Sied as moderator. That would actually be a far better game.
