I thought Columbia Pictures did the Raimi trilogy?  Then Columbia's rights expired after Spiderman 3 and Sony got the rights, then Sony and Raimi got into a disagreement over the future of the series and Spiderman 4 got cancelled while it was still in pre-production.

Probably the only thing that'll make me watch these new Sony Spiderman movies is if they reboot a 2nd time with a new director and new cast, some of the casting in the reboot was just awful. Also, bring back MJ as Peter's main love interest, I always liked her more than Gwen.

Sony bought Columbia Pictures in 1989 it's how Sony picture started before then Sony never made films.
