i had a mobo with tv tuner allmost 10 years ago, got it cheap because i had problems with my mobo and they couldnt replace it so they gave me a bigger one. it worked, but my next mobo hadnt a tv tuner because i never used it...  

again this is not freaking 10 years ago, this is now!, again this is a solution for the companies that produce electronics its a cheap option to include in the build. Apple and Samsung, LG etc . no unsightly antenna sticking out.

its nothing new, and could be done now easyly, but nobody cares for tv.

and they still need an antenna, the chip doesnt change anything about the need of a antenna to get a good signal.  its like radios, they till need an antenna if you wanna get a good signal, and chips cant change this fact, its the physik, stupid...

the old tuner didnt needed "data" too, TV never needs "data". they just used other tech to get the signal to you. small digital tv tunder arent new too, we had them  in europe in a lot of high end "smart"phones. and we have much better free tv than the us. but nobody cared, and without a big home market for this tech it died realy fast. like i said, cable and satellite tv are cheap and have more channels(you can get a satellite antenna for 50€ with tuners for 200+ free channels).

maybe there is a market for it in the states, but the tech behind it isnt new.
