I would say they tried too hard to go for the "Western gamer". They had games that generally appeal to western gamers an uncharted, call of duty, assassin's creed, tearaway, madden, borderlands 2 ect. Where I feel they went wrong is not realizing that people who want these kinds of games want them for their home console.
Now the system has done a complete 180 (in the west). It gets next to no western support, but has the best japanese support of any console out there.
