They were bad because they also consumed a lot of power. Add to this that dvbt is dead in Germany and there is no sign dvbt 2 will change this.

well it because tv is so cheap in germany. i pay 25€ for cable tv and internet/phone. DVDT just cant compete with those offerings.
its cable or satellite, all other is dead.

For broadcasting, this is true, yes. Dvbt 2 will also be with hevc iirc so this will require new hardware, too, which will be a show stopper for the technology.

again its not just for Dvbt 2 standard, as i said its also can be for NTSC standard at that, with Playstation Vue you would also have cable all on the same smartphone or Tablet
