As someone without nostalgic memories for ALttP, I was unable to finish the game after testing it for the first time somewhat recently (lost interest during the first dungeon). In that short time though, I already saw plenty of familiar themes that would carry over to its many sequels, so I can see why it is considered to be the best/second best by most Zelda fans.
