Pitchfork mentality in the vgchartz article comments section?

I think that the pitchfork mentality is more of a "comments" section thing. Read any noteworthy news article or blog, and you'll see some of the worse things someone can say in the comment section along with all kinds of stuff. They aren't really set up for conversation and discussions. You post a comment then forget about it. I don't bother posting comments to articles or blogs for the most part because of that. I doubt that the writer, blogger or youtuber ever reads that stuff.

I noticed some political sites, or things that are more personal like people suffering from diseases and telling their testimonies tend to have some good comments, especially when the article comments section is integrated with facebook.

I've seen alot of people still say whatever when it's linked to FB. Lack of anonymity deters some of it but not alot. It might depend on how the article is shown to 'em or how they came across it. If you read any articles on yahoo and see the comments section, you'll see what I mean. All of 'em have some good comments but the more people care about an issue the meaner they can get. Some articles are more of a click bait variant and those tend to draw alot more hate from people. Like "Black person gets shot again by a white person". It will get a lot of hits if it's shown on yahoo or any big news or blogging site but don't look for any love or anything constructive in the comments section. News in general loves to flamebait.
