If we make the assumption that the Americas, Europe and Japan columns are accurate (based on comparisons to NPD, GFK, Chart-Track, Media Create etc) then as you say the only difference is in "Others" so are you suggesting that sales in those regions were higher in 2014 than in 2012? This could potentially be the case but do we have any evidence to actually support this? Was there a big launch in a developing country or any evidence of sales picking up significantly (compared the the expected drop at the end of the gen)? For comparison sake, here is the same data for PS3:
Have you got the NPD data to hand (or a link) - I wasn't actually aware that there was that large a discrepancy. Are you comparing to proper LTD NPD data or LTDs made up of adding up each monthly report they release? |
Welfare to the rescue.
In July, there was a LTD leak for all consoles from a website leaking June 2014's NPD. It's in graph form, rounded to the nearest 100k.

Your numbers at that point in time are
Wii - 41.55m
Wii U - 2.6m
PS3 - 26.2m
PS4 - 3.66m
360 - 43.44m
Xbox One - 2.93m
PSV - 1.81m
3DS - 12.58m
Hope this helps! Also over on GAF, an NPD leaker said the 360 passed the Wii in October.
Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287
