If space is an issue than another way to get it now is to download it to a USB flash drive bigger than 8GB and re-download it when you get a hdd. I have 8GB Basic Wii U and I'm using 32GB USB flash drive for the time being and downloaded the Trilogy to it.

note - if you want to gift/sell the code you have to "Check out as a guest" and not link it to your NNID.
