The fact they don't have the ability for the owner to keep the movie, is to me, an incomplete service. Yes, there will be people renting movies, but there will also be people who want to own them.

 

Frankly, two services are needed, that is why Apple is winning in Digital distribution war right now.

I agree that both renting and owning would be something that would benefit consumers. As you said some people just want to see something one time and others want to own it.

As for Apple, well don't forget that songs/albums are also very small dl's, so it is very easy to quickly dl a song you want. (and to put it on your ipod) I think the AppleTV(movie downloads) hasn't been doing so hot though.

 The size was HD movie is also a issue, I have 60GB monthly limit, and some people in Europe have less. If I want to download a 15gb movie, I want to keep it. 

Or else I'm buying it on blu-ray. No way in hell am I wasting 50 bucks internet service on 3 RENTALs
