Please just buy a bigger HDD for the PS3 and dont worry. I have an 80GB HDD in my PS3 (originally 60GB) and I still have 40GBs left with 10GB of anime on it and a ton of PSN games. 40GB is enough for most gamers as most wouldnt have half the games I have, plus half the videos. Also most would be smart and setup an DLNA server.
Honestly I have no problems with an install as long as it improves performance in game.
