The state of the racing genre

Regarding the big games, last year we had Mario Kart 8, Forza Horizon 2 and DriveClub. 3 big games with different racing purposes. Needless to say that MK8 and FH2 turned out pretty great; many even consider MK8 to be the best of the series. Regarding DriveClub, despite the initial mess, the game turned out to be pretty good; and if you stop to analyze it does many things amazingly well. Hell, that probably was my most played game last year.

This year we'll have PCars 2, a new Need for Speed and probably more unnanounced games.

EDIT: Forza 6 too! Forgot about it (and maybe, just maaaaaybe, Gran Turismo in some sort).

Didn't know NFS was confirmed for 2015.  Also didn't realize they've been coming out with one every year, hopefully they come out with something really special with the extra year.

It's not 100% official yet, but everyone consider it very likely since last year we haven't got the usual NFS game. EA is said to be giving more time and resources for the development of new NFS games. That's a great thing and we'll probably see the results this E3.
