and finally, DS2 didn't sell poorly on wii u, 1/6 of the ps360 counterparts is quite ok for a launch title (0 installed base). An exclusive Darksiders 3 released in 2015/2016 would do 500k at the very worst on wii u, possibly 1 million.

And FYI Darksiders 2 sold better on WiiU than it did on PS3 or 360  when you take potential userbase/sold copies into account.

Install base ain't THAT important. Sales doesn't scale with install base: most early adopters of a new system also buy an overproportional amount of games AND they have less choice than on older platforms.

Let's look up the multiplatform PS4 launch games (it also had 0 install base) compared with the best selling version:

  • AC4: Black Flag (PS4) = 2.18m, AC4: Black Flag (PS3) = 3.92m, so better than 1/2 (56%)
  • Battlefield 4 (PS4) = 2.56m, Battlefield 4 (PS3) = 3.53m, so better than 1/2 (73%)
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts (PS4) = 2.99m, Call of Duty: Ghosts (PS3) = 9.64m, so almost 1/3 (31%)
  • FIFA Soccer 14 (PS4) = 2.71m, FIFA Soccer 14 (PS3) = 6.91m, so better than 1/3 (39%)
  • Injustice (PS4) = 0.52m, Injustice (360) = 1.25m, so almost 1/2 (42%)
  • Madden NFL 25 (PS4) = 0.73m, Madden NFL 25 (360) = 2.06m, so better than 1/3 (35%)
  • NBA 2K14 (PS4) = 1.12m, NBA 2K14 (360) = 2.26m, so almost 1/2 (49.5%)
  • Need for Speed Rivals (PS4) = 1.38m, Need for Speed Rivals (PS3) = 1.31m, best selling version (105%)

Or the Xbox One (also 0 install base) compared with the best selling version:

  • AC4: Black Flag (XBO) = 2.00m, AC4: Black Flag (PS3) = 3.92m, so better than 1/2 (51%)
  • Battlefield 4 (XBO) = 1.66m, Battlefield 4 (PS3) = 3.53m, so almost 1/2 (47%)
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts (XBO) = 2.32m, Call of Duty: Ghosts (PS3) = 9.64m, so almost 1/4 (24%)
  • FIFA Soccer 14 (XBO) = 1.07m, FIFA Soccer 14 (PS3) = 6.91m, so only 1/6 (15.5%)
  • Madden NFL 25 (XBO) = 0.67m, Madden NFL 25 (360) = 2.06m, so almost 1/3 (32%)
  • NBA 2K14 (XBO) = 0.61m, NBA 2K14 (360) = 2.26m, so better than 1/4 (49.6%)
  • Need for Speed Rivals (XBO) = 0.52m, Need for Speed Rivals (PS4) = 1.38m, so better than 1/3 (38%)

Last but not least the multiplatform WiiU launch games compared with the best selling version:

  • Assassin's Creed 3 (WiiU) = 0.32m, Assassin's Creed 3 (PS3) = 6.32m, so 1/20 (51%)
  • Batman: Arkham City (WiiU) = 0.27m, Batman: Arkham City (PS3) = 5.24m, so 1/20 (5.2%)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (WiiU) = 0.28m, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (PS3) = 13.37m, so 1/50 (2.1%)
  • Darksiders 2 (WiiU) = 0.13m, Darksiders 2 (PS3) = 0.82m, so almost 1/6 (15.9%)
  • FIFA Soccer 13 (WiiU) = 0.28m, FIFA Soccer 13 (PS3) = 8.15m, so only 1/30 (3.4%)
  • Madden NFL 13 (WiiU) = 0.12m, Madden NFL 13 (360) = 2.80m, so less than 1/20 (4.3%)
  • Mass Effect 3 (WiiU) = 0.21m, Mass Effect 3 (360) = 2.97m, so 1/14 (7.1%)
  • NBA 2K13 (WiiU) = 0.07m, NBA 2K13 (360) = 2.90m, so 1/40 (2.4%)

As a matter of fact Darksiders 2 DID better comparing it to the other third party launch titles on WiiU... but also a lot worse than third party launch titles on XBO or PS4.

although not 1:1, software sales do increase with installed base and you shouldn't ignore that.

And seriously, EA launch titles for wii u can't be used for comparison since EA didn't even try. And Batman was one year late.
