In spite of that, PS4 matches Xbox One for total number of games in the Top 40 (12 each), and in most cases the PS4 version of games is outselling the Xbox One version (GTA, COD, Fifa, Far Cry, Saints Row).

This would indicate that multiplatform games alone are enough to provide the PS4 with a stable, respectable baseline.

While the release of exclusives (particularly games like GT and Uncharted) will provide huge bumps, as it stands now is not at all bad.

People forget the reason PS4 has had less exclusives, is because Sony supported the PS3 properly right up until it's last year. Games like Gran Turismo 6, The Last of US and Beyond: Two souls could easily have been pushed back to release on the PS4. Plus you have the Order getting delayed. All is good in the hood and that's even without the Sony exclusives!

It's not like PS4 doesn't have its exclusives, and in the case of LBP launched in the same window as FH2, SO and MCC. But by and large those exclusives have, to date, been a bit uninspiring. PS4 really needs The Order and Blood Borne to be critical home runs because builing up a list of mediocre (reviewed) exclusives while the other platforms continue to build up a library of well reviewed exclusives will eventually have a market shifting effect. Fortunately Xb one hasn't had a run of critically acclaimed new games, with SO being really the main game that's fresh and very well reviewed and only on Xb one. But I feel like Sony is on notice to bring out games that will really excite people.
