I don't think any real gamers believe sales trumps quality (unless they are fanboys). So it's not just the 360 fan base that believes this as you say.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that the damage control argument they use when they get pwnd in sales. Sure as hell didn't use it when they were winning, though.
