so am i okay with paying a higher price for a console so that PC guys can have better access to pirate the exclusives i enjoy?   no,..

PC games actually do very well as far as i know.  May be more pirating but i dont believe its as common as some thinks.

As for porting, i know.  But they may be able to find a way. Could do it through the cloud as it becomes more and more popular.  Either way they could put the games theyre currently working on there.

piracy is in the neighboorhood of 85% to 90%.   pc can still bring in good numbers of units sold though because while console's active userbase is in the tens of millions pc's active user base is in the hundreds of millions.   ..but even with good unit numbers the price per game is waay lower on pc than on consoles.  so pc generates a decent amount of revenue on a number of dollars basis but falls orders of magnitude less than on consoles on a per capita basis.

tl;dr,.. there is a reason why larger budget games come to consoles first and pc late and are unoptimized for pc.  money.  consoles generate more of it.

the rise of free-to-play is a consequence of piracy.  the rise of the subscription based model is a consequence of piracy.  pc devalues games.  now in theory i should like cheaper games in practise i hate that cheap games actually means cheaply made games.  pc is like poison for well-made AAA blockbuster games in the same way that smartphones is killing well-made games for mobile gaming (dedicated handhelds),. large numbers of consumers unwilling to pay to play.  the only pc porting i can get behind is things like playstation now where the source code isn't distributed and therefore can't be pirated.  that's my two cents at least.
