Bioware games have felt like that for a long time, well before Tumblr existed or anyone had ever heard of Anita Sarkeesian. I think they are more influenced by the weird people who hang out in the Bioware forums and obsess sexually over the various characters, and they don't want posters bitching about how they couldn't get off because black lesbian genderfluid transdwarves are their thing and there weren't any.
