Question: If Let's Players are so influential, why aren't indie developers flooding in money and sales so much so that they can compete with top-tier developers because people like PDP play their games? This isn't to say that in some cases it isn't free-advertisement, but there are so many risks and considerations for companies that like to be in total control of their image. I can definitely see why big companies would look at it and say, "it isn't worth the free advertisement."

Reviews are advertisements. Some publishers even give hundreds of copies away to reviwers for free because they have a bae. Indie games dont have the marketing budgets of the large AAA's. They are designed to attract the largest crowd possible in this day and age, promising a large scale spectacle.

I don't agree. Reviews are not advertisement. It would only be considered advertisement to me if the company pays the reviewer to give a good review. Otherwise, a review is just a review, a separate thing from advertisement. Advertisement is created to look at the good parts and tell you that you should buy the product. Reviews are there to weigh the pros and cons and determine whether or not you should buy the product. There's a clear distinction there. Reviews are important to the companies because they know that advertisement only is showing what the company wants to show, but reviews are coming from a third party point of view so it's easier to trust them when they say it's good or bad.
