Why The hell people were saying console games were going to die this gen ?

The new consoles do a good job in these tasks (much better than the last generation), but they aren't the most convenient devices for these tasks.

My €50 Amazon Fire TV is more convenient for video streaming services than my PS4. Writing text (browsing, facebooking, etc.) is still more convenient on a cheap tablet or big smartphone many people already have than using the controller for text input. 

So I don't see people who aren't into gaming buy a game console for this stuff.
