In January of last year Microsoft purchased the Gears of War franchise from Epic for obvious reasons. Epic has bigger fish to fry and Microsoft still needs another heavy hitter to pose a threat to Sony. According to reports, the game is coming along smoothly since hiring the laid off staff from Sony Santa Monica (God of War) and Irrational Games (Bioshock Infinite) and adding those combined workers with Black Tusk Studios who failed to launch their debut new IP. Now that the team is pretty much an allstar team helmed by Rod Fergusson. I think E3 will be the time that they reveal a cinematic with a specific year for the games debut for the next gen. Last gen they put Gears of War on a two year cycle of development launching after Halo and vice versa until the generation was complete. I believe it will be no different for Gears of War and the Xbox this generation.
